About Chan’s Work
Chan Hong Yui Clement’s images explore the plasticity in photography that is typically induced by the formal and conceptual aspects of the medium, such as light, surface, spontaneity, indexicality, and depiction and representation. Often portraying his diverse subject matter in ways that defy easy categorization, Chan has incorporated into his work elements of a variety of styles and methodologies, including the snapshot aesthetics, the Documentary-style, appropriation, digital manipulation, and lens-based experimentation.
